American Diner Puzzle from White Mountain

What a fun puzzle the American Diner puzzle from White Mountain was! We really enjoyed it, from the moment we opened the box and saw the large, thick, quality pieces to the moment we stepped back and enjoyed the assembled work. There are so many great nostalgic elements in the picture. Classic diner food. Great styles. Cool cars. And blast-from-the-past signage. This was a fun one!

Let’s Do The Twist!

You can almost hear the tabletop jukebox blaring out classic tunes while you’re assembling this American Diner puzzle from White Mountain. It took us a while to put this one together. We had plenty of time to listen to plenty of music that’s for sure! There are very few simple spots in this one. Challenges can be found everywhere. But, we hardly noticed how tough it was since it was so much fun to do!

The Last Piece

This is a 1000 piece puzzle. It includes a very colorful poster. The assembled puzzle is about 30″ wide and 24″ high. The pieces are thick, fit well and the image quality on the pieces is good. The colors were great and bright. This puzzle was fun to assemble and even more fun to sit back and enjoy.

Virginia’s Nest Puzzle from Buffalo Games

It’s not that the Virginia’s Nest puzzle from Buffalo Games was super-easy. Not at all. But it was a whole heck of a lot easier than the puzzle we’d just completed. We needed a little break, a little peaceful puzzling time. Less stress. The artwork on this puzzle is by Charles Wysocki, who has quickly become one of our favorites. This is a very enjoyable puzzle, like all of the others we’ve done from this artist.

It’s Not All Happy Chickens

Now, as much as the Virginia’s Nest puzzle from Buffalo Games is great to sit back and enjoy, there were a few difficult spots in this puzzle. Many of the buildings were the same colors. There’s plenty of similarly-colored grass around to challenge you a bit. Along with the water. But the buildings were the most challenging, and in a good way.

There are also many great images in the puzzle, from the dog in its house to the people and horses to the fun chickens everywhere!

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 1000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 20″ high and 27″ wide. The pieces are large and thick and fit really well. The image is crisp and bright and the colors are fantastic. There is a poster included that is clear and easy to work from. This is a great, quality puzzle!

Farmer’s Market Sale on the Square Puzzle from MasterPieces

Busy! Busy! Busy! The Farmer’s Market Sale on the Square puzzle from MasterPieces is one busy place! All sorts of things are for sale. Pies. Fresh product. Flowers. Lots of colorful things. This is a fun puzzle to put together and an equally fun one to sit back and enjoy when completed.

Missing Pieces

We’re actually ok buying a used puzzle with missing pieces. If we know it upfront that is. Put a note on the box. Circle where the piece is missing. Something. Anything so we know. We might change my mind about buying it, but just tell us. This Farmer’s Market Sale on the Square Puzzle from MasterPieces (an antique mall find) was missing two pieces. Turns out that didn’t really bother us. But, there was no indication on the (tapped shut) box. Instead, there was a note on the poster inside! So we had to buy it to find out that it was clearly missing pieces! Argh!

Still in the end we enjoyed this puzzle. But knowing ahead that there were two missing pieces would’ve saved us going back thru all the pieces twice looking for the missing edge (we do the edges first).

The Last Piece

This 750 piece puzzle did not include a poster. We did buy it used, so perhaps a newly purchased puzzle includes one. The assembled puzzle is about 24″ wide and 18″ high. The pieces fit pretty well and the image quality on the pieces is good. The colors were great and bright.

Love Is Sweet Puzzle from MasterPieces

This Love is Sweet puzzle from MasterPieces was one of the few random cut piece puzzles that we’ve done. Most puzzles we do seem to be ribbon cut, so the pieces are all fairly similar. Not with random cut, that’s for sure. The pieces are crazy. Some have all sorts of weird tabs or blanks. Actually a lot of them do. It’s challenging and fun at the same time.

Yummy Treats

What is it about puzzles with great-looking food in them? This Love is Sweet puzzle from MasterPieces is full of all sorts of colorful candies. Tasty candies. Though not overly difficult, the similar colors do make it a bit more challenging. We found the windows, though to be the most challenging. This puzzle didn’t take us long to complete but it was a joy to sit back and look at when it was done.

The Last Piece

This puzzle included a poster. And that’s a good thing because the picture on the box front is slightly obscured by a blue awning that is not part of the final puzzle. There are 750 extra-thick cut pieces in this puzzle. The assembled puzzle is about 24″ wide and 18″ high. The artwork is very nice and colorful.

Andy Warhol Flowers Puzzle from Galison

This Andy Warhol Flowers puzzle from Galison was kind of a departure from our usual puzzles. It’s definitely not a picture of an old grocery store. Nor is it a peaceful 1800s countryside. And with only five different colors, it’s certainly one of the less colorful puzzles. But that in no way means it’s not awesome. In fact, I have to say its easily one of our favorites. Andy Warhol of course was a very famous artist. He did a number of paintings of flowers. This puzzle is of one of his paintings that was first displayed in the 1970s. Each painting was of the same flowers, but using different colors. They’re all quite amazing, as is the one in this puzzle!

An Enjoyable Challenge

Although this Andy Warhol Flowers puzzle from Galison didn’t take us too long to assemble, it was one that we found ourselves stopping to enjoy as we went. I think this puzzle opened our eyes to doing more puzzles containing famous artwork in the very near future.

There are some challenging spots in this puzzle for sure. The same colors are found throughout.

This is a 500 piece puzzle. It includes a poster that is the same size as the picture on the box. The assembled puzzle is about 20″ wide and 20″ high. The pieces are thick, fit well and the image quality on the pieces is very good. The colors were great and bright. This puzzle is definitely frameable and is quite worthy of display.

50s Starlite Diner Puzzle from Bits and Pieces

Although we typically do larger puzzles, with 1000 or more pieces, we are always open to any puzzle if we like the design. This 50s Starlite Diner puzzle from Bits and Pieces caught our eye as we were perusing the puzzle shelves at our local Hobby Lobby. The puzzle captures a 1950s scene outside a neon -lit diner. Cool cars, classic drive-in food and the outfits people are wearing were all we needed. And although it took us very little time to assemble, this is one of our favorite puzzles.

Cool Cars. Cool Pieces.

If you zoom in you’ll see how fun the pieces in the 50s Starlite Diner puzzle from Bits and Pieces are. They are quite whimsical and random. They really add to the enjoyment of this puzzle. Between the piece cuts and the imagery, this is one to enjoy.

As an aside, you’ll almost always find puzzles like this one on sale at Hobby Lobby!

Birch Point Cove Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We had just completed a really, really challenging puzzle. It took us days and days to complete. That’s ok, we’re not in a hurry. But boy did we need a little bit of an ‘easy break’. So we grabbed this Birch Point Cove Puzzle from Buffalo Games off of our to-do pile and got to it.

This is another of Charles Wysocki’s great works. We always find puzzles of his art to be rather relaxing. Challenging in spots too, but they are always an enjoyable experience.

Such A Pleasant Scene

You can almost hear the birds in the tree while you’re working on this puzzle. As with all of Wysocki’s work (or at least the puzzles of his art that we’ve done so far), the scene is very soothing. The Birch Point Cove puzzle from Buffalo Games was a great experience. We sure enjoyed it.

This 1000 piece puzzle included a poster. The assembled puzzle is about 27″ wide and 20″ high. The pieces fit fairly well and the colors were great. The original artwork is a painting, so the imagery on the pieces isn’t as crisp as you’d find on a puzzle drawn on a computer.

Main Street Bakery Puzzle from RoseArt

Boy, was this Main Street Bakery Puzzle from RoseArt ever a challenging one for us. First it was big, a whopping 2000 pieces. We don’t do many of those. They tie up a good part of our large dining room table for days. Second, the pieces were small. And last, there were so many similar colors throughout the puzzle, making it difficult to match them up. From a challenging standpoint this was a great puzzle. And the final result so popped with color that the extra time it took to put together was more than worth it.

The Mysterious Extra Piece

Our Main Street Bakery Puzzle from RoseArt came with an extra piece! We’ve never had that happen. Sure, we’ve had missing pieces with used puzzles. But never have we had a duplicate piece in a new puzzle! You can see the extra piece to the right of the picture.

Quality. Not So much.

We both struggled continuously with the pieces to this puzzle not staying together. It was impossible to try and remove a wrong piece without taking several pieces with it. It was a real frustrating challenge to move completed sections together. We both complained a few times about it. But in the end the puzzle came together great and we were very happy with the resulting colors and image.

This puzzle contains 2000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 26″ high and 38″ wide. There is no poster included. The pieces are small and do not fit as well as we like. The image is crisp and bright. The final picture is worth the struggling with the ill-fitting pieces.

Beach Fun Puzzle from White Mountain

This Beach Fun puzzle from White Mountain was a bit different for us. Usually, the puzzles we buy and assemble have very sharp, defined colors and edges. Many, we suspect, are designed on computers. Some come from paintings, but border on being almost mechanical in their detail and accuracy and sharpness. Not this one. This is more like a painting. The edges are a bit softer. Mellower.

Busy Beach Time

The image in this Beach Fun puzzle from White Mountain is busy. There’s lots of ‘stuff’ to be found. And challenging spots all over. The softer images make it even more challenging, a little harder to tell which pieces go where. The beach and sand were tough. As was the water and sky. The objects found all over were a bit easier. This was a fun puzzle to do.

This 1500 piece puzzle included a very colorful, nice poster. The assembled puzzle is about 32″ wide and 24″ high. The pieces are nice and large and fit together very well. There is a small poster included.

Cabin Porch Puzzle from Cobble Hill

It was a long, hard road for us. Getting to the end of this Cabin Porch puzzle from Cobble Hill was challenging. We got this puzzle from a neighbor in a trade for some of our completed puzzles. The picture got our attention so we had to get it. Right out of the gate, just sorting the pieces had its moments.

Does This Go There?

Some of the pieces in this Cabin Porch puzzle from Cobble Hill like to fit in more than one place. Right off the bat, I got the border wrong in several places. Things went downhill from there. The chair was tough. The floor was tough. But the dark cabin ceiling was the hardest part. The colors are barely discernable. There was a lot of “try this” going on. But we got there. Well sorta…

The Dreaded Missing Piece

This puzzle ended up minus one piece. Right in the middle of the dog, too! Doesn’t it figure? We actually had two missing pieces for a while. We looked and we looked. All over the room. Under everything. Then finally… there it was! At the other end of the dining room table. So, just one missing piece in the end.

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 1000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 19″ wide and 27″ high (the image is portrait oriented). There was no poster included, but our puzzle was used so perhaps a new one includes a poster. The pieces are fairly big and thick and fit really well. They are cut in many different ways, making it even more challenging.
