Yankee Wink Hollow Puzzle from Buffalo Games

I have to warn you. I’m going to say ‘wonderful’ a lot in this post. I’m sorry, I know I should look for other adjectives to describe the Yankee Wink Hollow puzzle from Buffalo Games. But ‘wonderful’ just suits it perfectly. The colors are wonderful. The imagery is wonderful. And yes, the pieces fit wonderfully! I promise I’m done with how ‘wonderful’ this is! This is Charles Wysocki at his best.

It’s Not All Wonderful

Ok, there were some difficult spots in the Yankee Wink Hollow puzzle from Buffalo Games. Challenges. Tests. There were several pieces that fit in several places with little hint that they were wrong. That’s ok. It doesn’t all have to be easy. That’s part of the journey.

The trees were the most difficult part in all. The many objects were a joy. This is a piece of art. When done, we both stood back and enjoyed it for a good long time.

It’s just a wonderful puzzle and one of our favorites of all time.

The Last Piece

This puzzle includes a poster. There are 1000 pieces in this puzzle. The assembled puzzle is about 30″ wide and 24″ high. The pieces fit very well and the image quality on the pieces is fantastic. The colors were great and the pieces are thick and cut perfectly. This is a quality puzzle that brings hours of enjoyment.

Moonlight and Roses Puzzle from Buffalo Games

“Whew”. We both said it at the same time as the last piece went in. This Moonlight and Roses puzzle from Buffalo Games challenged us both. From start to finish. The imagery was fantastic. The journey, though, was long. This was an older puzzle we acquired used from an antique mall for $4. We got more than our money’s worth that’s for sure!

Where Did It Go?

Our Moonlight and Roses Puzzle from Buffalo Games was missing a piece. It was a used puzzle. I can never get over how when a puzzle is missing a piece, it’s only one. Not two. Not five. But one. But it’s worse. We got down to two ‘holes’ in our puzzle. We had only one piece. And it didn’t fit into either place. We looked and looked and could not find the issue.

The solution? Flip the puzzle over. It wasn’t easy. And it was obvious which piece (it was just one!) we had wrong. Sometimes you just have to do it. Usually we just have to flip a section, but this time we had to flip the entire thing. So in the end, we had just one missing piece. We still enjoyed the puzzle.

We love puzzles of Charles Wysocki’s works. This one is a little different for us. The ones we’ve done in the past were rural scenes, of farms and towns, in an Americana style art. This was not like those, but a lot of fun!

This puzzle contains 1000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 27″ wide and 20″ high. There is a poster included. The pieces fit fairly well. The image is very well-done and fun to look at. We did buy the puzzle used and there was some wear (and a missing piece).

Gull’s Nest Puzzle from Buffalo Games

Puzzles of Charles Wysocki’s art always make us happy. They’re just fun to do. And fun to look at. The Gull’s Nest puzzle from Buffalo Games is another fine example of Wysocki’s great work. There are common elements in his paintings that we find in these puzzles. Like the chimneys being the same. Or the fruits in the trees. Things like that. Always little interesting things. The scenes are always pleasant, peaceful. They’re a bit challenging and a lot of joy.

Always Fun

When we were new to puzzling we started to hear about Charles Wysocki puzzles. We had no clue who he was or what the puzzles were about. Most are like this Gull’s Nest puzzle from Buffalo Games, depicting early mid-19th century times. Horse-drawn carriages. County fairs. Those sorts of things. Now we find ourselves always keeping a puzzle or two (or more) of his artwork on hand for those times when we want a (usually) easier puzzle to complete. Easy doesn’t mean less enjoyable, not at all. They’re just stress-free fun puzzling times.

Autumn Farms Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We’re both really big fans of Charles Wysocki’s works that have been turned into jigsaw puzzles. We often find ourselves making these puzzles after we’ve completed a really really tough puzzle. We need a break. We need a return to something known. Not necessarily easier, but something familiar. Comfortable. And Charles’ art is always it. Most of the puzzles we’ve done of his are similar – scenes from early rural American life. Horses. Shoppes. Colorful landscapes. And this Autumn Farms puzzle from Buffalo Games is no exception. This is classic Wysocki for us and one we truly enjoyed!

Busy. Busy. Busy.

There’s a lot going on in Autumn Farms Puzzle from Buffalo Games. I’d say even more than usual in a Wysocki puzzle. That’s not a bad thing. It’s a really fun puzzle. As I mentioned, we had just finished a huge puzzle that made us sweat. It took us a long time. This one saved us. It was fun from the first piece to the last.

The Last Piece

This puzzle included a poster. There are 1000 thick pieces in this puzzle. The assembled puzzle is about 20″ high and 27″ wide. The pieces fit very well and each is unique. The colors were good. This was a great puzzle.

I couldn’t find this exact puzzle on Amazon at the moment, but Springbok has other fantastic looking puzzles available!

Bostonians and Beans Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We have assembled quite a few puzzles of artwork from Charles Wysocki. He is definitely one of our favorite artists. His creations always make us happy. The Bostonians and Beans puzzle from Buffalo Games is another great Wysocki creation. Though, we found this one to be a bit different than our usual ones. There are more objects in this puzzle. There’s lots of stuff going on. Fun stuff.

Golden Era. Golden Colors.

There’s lots of gold hues in the Bostonians and Baked Beans puzzle from Buffalo Games. That makes assembling some of the areas a bit more challenging. Especially all of the faces and windows. This isn’t a terribly hard puzzle, but it’s not a walk in the park (or on the ice) either!

You have to make sure that you glance around at all the great things going on in this puzzle when you complete it. It’s fun!

Hearts

You can always (it seems) find hearts in Mr. Wysocki’s art. Some are obvious. Some are hidden. They are his trademark. Like Aimee Stewart, another great artist, who often ‘hides’ foxes in her puzzles. Just a little added touch that we think makes the puzzle even more enjoyable.

The Last Piece

This 1000 piece puzzle did include a nice large poster. The assembled puzzle is about 27″ wide and 20″ high. The pieces fit very tightly. They are cut in very simple patterns, which did help make it a little easier to assemble. There is also a 500 piece version of this puzzle. This is a true joy to assemble and admire.

Beaver Hat Tavern Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We always come back to Charles Wysocki puzzles. No matter how bad the day, we can count on puzzles of his artwork to calm us. To make us happy again. There’s just something about them. Or maybe several things. The simplicity of the art. The softness of the colors. The scenes you can almost hear and smell. They usually harken back to simpler times, as did this Beaver Hat Tavern puzzle from Buffalo Games. This is quintessential Wysocki, and a puzzle we greatly enjoyed!

The Little Things

One thing you can count on with a puzzle of Charles Wysocki‘s art are the little things. Little touches. Objects. Things you encounter as you assemble the puzzle that make you smile. Birds. Cows. Hearts. They’re just another reason we found this Beaver Hat Tavern puzzle from Buffalo Games to be so fun!

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 1000 pieces. The final puzzle is 30″ wide and about 24″ high. The pieces fit a little lose but we bought this puzzle used. We could tell it had been assembled a few times from the wear on the pieces and the folds in the poster (thankfully, included!). The artwork is fantastic. The puzzle was moderately challenging, with the trees being the hardest part for us.

‘Twas The Twilight Before Christmas Puzzle from Buffalo Games

Christmas is in the air! And snow is now too for that matter! It’s mighty cold here in Indiana. Perfect puzzling weather. Perfect for assembling this great ‘Twas The Twilight Before Christmas puzzle from Buffalo Games. From one of our favorite artists, Charles Wysocki, this puzzle was an absolute joy to do. We’ve done a lot of Wysocki’s works, so there are familiar objects in this puzzle. The hearts. The flag. Birds. Lots of things. Great things.

Happy Puzzling

This ‘Twas the Twilight Before Christmas puzzle from Buffalo Games made us happy. In big part that was because we always enjoy a puzzle of Charles Wysocki’s art. Always. We find them comforting. Relaxing. And it’s always so nice to stand back and admire the final work. This one didn’t take us long to do. I think that’s in part because we were ‘hungry’ for a Wysocki puzzle. We often turn to them after completing a super-hard puzzle!

Surf Shack Puzzle from Buffalo Games

The Surf Shack puzzle from Buffalo Games is one of the hardest ones we’ve ever completed. The edges were the easiest part. It got tougher, much tougher, from there. So many colors. So many pieces. Objects everywhere. Small objects. Oh yes, it was worth it, but this one took us a while to complete. But, we’re not on a schedule here. We get done when we get done and we enjoy the ride as we go.

Reuse Recycle

One thing I found interesting with the Surf Shack puzzle from Buffalo Games was that some of the objects in it are re-used in other puzzles from the manufacturer. I’m not surprised but it just caught my eye. The image in this puzzle is nicely done and is high-quality. I wouldn’t call it a ‘copy and paste’ job.

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 2000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 27″ high and 39″ wide. A large poster, included, is a great help. The pieces are fairly small. They fit together well and it’s hard to get a piece in wrong. The image is crisp and bright. The final picture is worth the struggle with the many, many colors! Sorting this puzzle was a challenge!

Rooster Express Puzzle from Buffalo Games

There’s always something about a Charles Wysocki puzzle. The scenes are always relaxing. Enjoyable. Peaceful. And although there are often common elements in his artwork, each is totally different. We love assembling puzzles of his paintings. The Rooster Express puzzle from Buffalo Games was another great work. Wonderful colors and a witty image made it a joy to assemble.

Much Ado Cock-A-Doodle-Doo

There are some really fun elements in this Rooster Express puzzle from Buffalo Games. The chickens in the yard. The vegetable cart. And of course, the super large rooster pulling it. It’s whimsical and fun. But not without it’s challenges. The grassy areas and dirt path were a bit challenging. As was the rooster itself. This was a fun puzzle to stand back and enjoy when it was completed.

This 1000 piece puzzle did not include a poster. The assembled puzzle is about 25″ wide and 22″ high. The pieces fit pretty well and the image quality on the pieces is good. We did not get a single piece wrong which is pretty rare. The colors were great and bright.

Witch’s Bay Puzzle from Buffalo Games

The Witch’s Bay puzzle from Buffalo Games is a favorite of ours. It’s another great example of Charles Wysocki’s artwork. This was one of the busiest puzzles from Mr. Wysocki that we’ve done. There’s a lot going on in it. And there were a lot of challenges, too. Sometimes we find ourselves completing a Wysocki puzzle in rather short order. Not this time. The trees and the buildings (in particular some of the windows) definitely tested us.

Same. And Different.

It seems that many of the Wysocki puzzles we do have similar elements in them. There’s always a heart. The chimneys and smoke on the buildings are often the same. The carriage wheels and horses are kinda the same. We often find things that are common between the puzzles. This Witch’s Bay puzzle from Buffalo Games has those common things but I assure you that doesn’t mean the puzzles are all the same. Each has its challenges. And all are rewarding in the end.
