‘Twas The Twilight Before Christmas Puzzle from Buffalo Games

Christmas is in the air! And snow is now too for that matter! It’s mighty cold here in Indiana. Perfect puzzling weather. Perfect for assembling this great ‘Twas The Twilight Before Christmas puzzle from Buffalo Games. From one of our favorite artists, Charles Wysocki, this puzzle was an absolute joy to do. We’ve done a lot of Wysocki’s works, so there are familiar objects in this puzzle. The hearts. The flag. Birds. Lots of things. Great things.

Happy Puzzling

This ‘Twas the Twilight Before Christmas puzzle from Buffalo Games made us happy. In big part that was because we always enjoy a puzzle of Charles Wysocki’s art. Always. We find them comforting. Relaxing. And it’s always so nice to stand back and admire the final work. This one didn’t take us long to do. I think that’s in part because we were ‘hungry’ for a Wysocki puzzle. We often turn to them after completing a super-hard puzzle!

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 1000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 27″ wide and 20″ high. There was a nice poster included. The pieces are fit fairly well. The image is well-done and fun to look at. There are great touches throughout, from the birds to the people to the cats. This is classic Wysocki at his best.

Surf Shack Puzzle from Buffalo Games

The Surf Shack puzzle from Buffalo Games is one of the hardest ones we’ve ever completed. The edges were the easiest part. It got tougher, much tougher, from there. So many colors. So many pieces. Objects everywhere. Small objects. Oh yes, it was worth it, but this one took us a while to complete. But, we’re not on a schedule here. We get done when we get done and we enjoy the ride as we go.

Reuse Recycle

One thing I found interesting with the Surf Shack puzzle from Buffalo Games was that some of the objects in it are re-used in other puzzles from the manufacturer. I’m not surprised but it just caught my eye. The image in this puzzle is nicely done and is high-quality. I wouldn’t call it a ‘copy and paste’ job.

The Last Piece

This puzzle contains 2000 pieces. The final puzzle is about 27″ high and 39″ wide. A large poster, included, is a great help. The pieces are fairly small. They fit together well and it’s hard to get a piece in wrong. The image is crisp and bright. The final picture is worth the struggle with the many, many colors! Sorting this puzzle was a challenge!

Rooster Express Puzzle from Buffalo Games

There’s always something about a Charles Wysocki puzzle. The scenes are always relaxing. Enjoyable. Peaceful. And although there are often common elements in his artwork, each is totally different. We love assembling puzzles of his paintings. The Rooster Express puzzle from Buffalo Games was another great work. Wonderful colors and a witty image made it a joy to assemble.

Much Ado Cock-A-Doodle-Doo

There are some really fun elements in this Rooster Express puzzle from Buffalo Games. The chickens in the yard. The vegetable cart. And of course, the super large rooster pulling it. It’s whimsical and fun. But not without it’s challenges. The grassy areas and dirt path were a bit challenging. As was the rooster itself. This was a fun puzzle to stand back and enjoy when it was completed.

The Last Piece

This 1000 piece puzzle did not include a poster. The assembled puzzle is about 25″ wide and 22″ high. The pieces fit pretty well and the image quality on the pieces is good. We did not get a single piece wrong which is pretty rare. The colors were great and bright.

Witch’s Bay Puzzle from Buffalo Games

The Witch’s Bay puzzle from Buffalo Games is a favorite of ours. It’s another great example of Charles Wysocki’s artwork. This was one of the busiest puzzles from Mr. Wysocki that we’ve done. There’s a lot going on in it. And there were a lot of challenges, too. Sometimes we find ourselves completing a Wysocki puzzle in rather short order. Not this time. The trees and the buildings (in particular some of the windows) definitely tested us.

Same. And Different.

It seems that many of the Wysocki puzzles we do have similar elements in them. There’s always a heart. The chimneys and smoke on the buildings are often the same. The carriage wheels and horses are kinda the same. We often find things that are common between the puzzles. This Witch’s Bay puzzle from Buffalo Games has those common things but I assure you that doesn’t mean the puzzles are all the same. Each has its challenges. And all are rewarding in the end.

The Last Piece

This is a 1000 piece puzzle. It includes a very colorful, large poster. The assembled puzzle is about 30″ wide and 24″ high. The pieces fit well and the image quality on the pieces is good. The colors were great and bright. This puzzle was fun to assemble and even more fun to sit back and enjoy. This is another great puzzle of Charles Wysocki’s artwork.

Turkey In The Straw Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We needed a break. A break from the huge, tougher puzzles we’d been doing. Oh don’t get me wrong, we love doing puzzles that takes us several days. We love the challenge. But we just wanted something smaller and quicker. But still nice. So we put together this Turkey In The Straw puzzle from Buffalo Games. Another work by Charles Wysocki, and we so enjoyed this puzzle. We’ve found ourselves loving Mr. Wysocki’s art more and more.

The Right Size For A Few Hours Of Fun

This wasn’t a huge puzzle. It was the perfect puzzle for a Saturday afternoon. Sorting the pieces was pretty straightforward. The colors were great. We loved the picture in this Turkey In The Straw puzzle from Buffalo Games. It’s one of those puzzles you just feel warm looking at. From start to finish.

The Last Piece

This puzzle includes a poster that is frameable by itself. There are 500 pieces in this puzzle. The assembled puzzle is about 21″ wide and 15″ high. The pieces fit very well and the image quality on the pieces is fantastic. The colors were great and the pieces are thick and cut perfectly. This is a quality puzzle that brings a few hours of enjoyment.

Birch Point Cove Puzzle from Buffalo Games

We had just completed a really, really challenging puzzle. It took us days and days to complete. That’s ok, we’re not in a hurry. But boy did we need a little bit of an ‘easy break’. So we grabbed this Birch Point Cove Puzzle from Buffalo Games off of our to-do pile and got to it.

This is another of Charles Wysocki’s great works. We always find puzzles of his art to be rather relaxing. Challenging in spots too, but they are always an enjoyable experience.

Such A Pleasant Scene

You can almost hear the birds in the tree while you’re working on this puzzle. As with all of Wysocki’s work (or at least the puzzles of his art that we’ve done so far), the scene is very soothing. The Birch Point Cove puzzle from Buffalo Games was a great experience. We sure enjoyed it.

This 1000 piece puzzle included a poster. The assembled puzzle is about 27″ wide and 20″ high. The pieces fit fairly well and the colors were great. The original artwork is a painting, so the imagery on the pieces isn’t as crisp as you’d find on a puzzle drawn on a computer.

This Sunday Morning Stroll puzzle from Buffalo Games is another great Charles Wysocki work. His paintings translate well into puzzles. The imagery is always fantastic. Almost transporting. All of our Wysocki puzzles prior to this one were more rural American scenes. This one is a more south-of-the-border painting. Oh, but don’t get fooled by the wonderful picture. Difficult challenges await.

Great Pieces. Tough Puzzle.

All is not burros, geese and flowers at the cantina. Tough times lurk in the trees above. Although we found most of this puzzle to be a pretty average challenge, the trees (particularly on the upper left) were a real test for us. Because of the painting quality (and that’s not a negative, just a note) it’s hard to tell which pieces fit in where. It took us a while. That’s ok because oh did we ever enjoy the time and the final result of this Sunday Morning Stroll puzzle from Buffalo Games.

Budzen’s Puzzle from Buffalo Games

This Budzen’s puzzle from Buffalo Games was our first puzzle with artwork by Charles Wysocki. We’d heard his name many times in various puzzle circles but honestly, we didn’t really know anything about him. So like anyone else, we looked him up on Wikipedia. Wysocki was an artist that painted mostly primitive works that depicted an early American life. We both enjoyed the artwork and the challenge of this puzzle. It was definitely tricky in spots, with lots of similar colors and textures making it easy to confuse the pieces. That’s good. A good challenge is a good thing.

Quality In Every Way

Puzzle quality comes in several ways. Of course you want quality, well-cut thick pieces that fit well. And you want amazing art. A poster is a plus, for us. And a bit of a challenge is a good thing. This Budzen’s puzzle from Buffalo Games was quality all-around. This won’t be our last Charles Wysocki puzzle. In fact, we already find ourselves seeking them out now when we go puzzle hunting.
